EASE Competence
Features of EASE Competence include:
Measuring performance
Skill-set definition
The EASE Competence toolset allows the specification of skill-sets based on organisational competence, job roles, knowledge profiles or academic or vocational qualification frameworks. These skill-sets can include units, elements, performance criteria, plus knowledge and range statements.
Maintaining profiles
Role profiles are made up of a selection of skills from different skill-sets. Once profiles are created they are assigned to courses together with self, evidence, question based and multi-rater assessment tools. The Personal Learning Portfolio enables individuals to measure their current skills and knowledge and to identify their strengths and development needs.
Learner tools
Assess learning preferences
The online assessment of learning preferences can establish personal learning style and brain preferences (e.g. visual, audio, kinesthetic) to allow the best format for the delivery of learning content to maximise learner productivity.
Development management
A Personal Learning Portfolio (PLP) on the learner desktop puts individuals firmly in charge of their own learning, supporting them as they tackle each step of the development process. As well as providing tools to profile learning needs and create learning plans, the PLP updates individuals with latest learning news, provides advice for transferring learning to work, records their learning achievements and provides a single point of access to their current learning activities.
Learners can personalise the PLP interface and set preferences for managing their development.
Tackling skill gaps
Assessment formats
EASE Competence supports self, evidence, question and multi-rater assessment formats:
- Self-rater: The user can self rate performance against a profile and then prioritise development needs to reflect their job role or future activities.
- Evidence: Portfolios can be established to enable review and assessment by independent assessors to identify skill gaps and development needs.
- Question: Where skills or knowledge can be assessed by defined test questions these can be incorporated.
- Multi-rater: EASE Competence provides a full 360 degree measurement system enabling individuals to nominate a respondent team who are invited to complete a questionnaire online.
Linking learning options to plans
Learning options within the training directory can be indexed against competences and learning preferences. Users can be directed to relevant training options based on the outcome of their skill gap assessment or can search the directory for subjects, outcomes, learning formats, key words and so on.
Development planning
Mandatory training
Specific programmes applicable to groups of staff (e.g. induction events) can be assigned to individual learner development plans to be integrated with competence based training planning and personal development options.
Compliance monitoring
Mandatory competence testing for regular assessment (e.g. annual health and safety) can be assigned to groups of learners with evidence certificates produced on completion and corporate records maintained for inspection.
Learning plan creation
EASE Competence encourages individuals to take a strategic approach to development asking them to think widely about their current skills needs, workplace objectives and career plans. Learners set SMART development objectives, identify learning options and create a personal learning route to translate learning into improved workplace performance.
Learning achievements are recorded against the plan to compile a learning history and to complete the learning cycle.
Personal learning programmes
The EASE Competence module is fully integrated with EASE Campus and links closely with the Programme Map from EASE Content Based on the assessment outcome, EASE Competence highlights resources within the course map that are of relevance to the user.
Multilingual support
Multiple language support is available for both assessment material and user interface elements.
Competence summaries
Personal analysis
Standard report formats for an individual include text and graphical outputs and highlight learning alternatives against the skill needs. These reports can form the basis of reviews with development coaches or mentors to assist in defining activities to apply the new skills in the work place and support longer term career planning.
Organisational reports
Report formats can be tailored to meet business requirements as well as providing organisational summaries of skill levels across departments to correlate with strategic development plans.
Security
EASE Competence has comprehensive security features to give maximum data security. Learners, mentors, managers, administrators, tutors all have profiles that can be set up to provide them with access to relevant data and menu functions.
EASE comprises mix and match modules that can be used individually to meet specific needs or collectively to provide an enterprise wide learning and content management solution.
